Pathways Program Overview

The Pathways Program provides an opportunity for young people (ages 18-25) to explore different career opportunities. Beginning with a two-day retreat, the program also consists of online and in-person workshops, and field-based career explorations. Participants are guided to better understand and articulate their strengths and interests. The program concludes with participants designing a learning pathway that will allow them to continue to deepen their experience and understanding of potential career paths. The program also features intentional relationship building with other participants, social events, and Leadership Chats with the 3,000+ members of the LRI network.

Application Process

A completed application packet consists of the following application, and an informational interview.

Please allow time for the following steps:

  • Complete the online application. Applications must be submitted by Friday, June 20th, 2025.
  • Schedule and attend an informational interview facilitated by an LRI staff member. After we receive your completed online application, we will reach out to schedule your interview. Interviews are 15-30 minutes long and will be conducted via phone.

Selection Criteria

A committee made up of LRI staff and alumni will select the cohort. The Pathways Program is meant for individuals ages 18-25 who may or may not be employed (full or part-time) and/or in college or another training program. We are seeking candidates that are unsure which direction they would like to go in their career, but are ready to engage fully in better understanding their strengths and interests. We are looking for evidence that the applicant will commit to the program and participate in all required events.

Please note, if you are a young professional that has been working for at least a year or more in a particular field, you may be interested in our Propel Program, which is geared towards professionals in workplace settings. If you are unsure which program is best for you, please reach out to Teresa DeFlitch at tdeflitch@leadershipri.org

Tuition & Tuition Assistance

The Pathways Program is tuition-free due to the support of several sponsors. That said, cost per participant is estimated at $2,500. Please make sure when applying that, should you be selected, you will be able to fully commit to the program. We will likely have a waiting list and would want to allow another individual to participate if you are unsure if you can commit to the program.
